Assesses individuals referred for music therapy to determine treatment planning. Provides treatment team with social/emotional perspective based on assessment. Responsibilities Individualizes plan of care, determining course of therapy taken: individual, group, family. Arranges musical experiences to enhance the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of patient. Follows up with MD, RN, CSW and family regarding music therapy treatment objectives. Writes daily progress notes in the medical chart providing outcome of music therapy goals. Accompanies patients to medical tests, surgery, spirometry assisting in the comfort of patients which expedite process of interventions needed to be accomplished by staff. Determines the kind of music that is appropriate to relieve anxiety and pain during procedures. Provides imagery/ wind playing activities for asthmatic patients, enhancing breath capacity, improving peak flow measurements.
