Music Center Evening Continuity Assistant - Part Time
The Music Center Evening Assistant supports all evening activities in the Albert P. Smith Music Center. This will include monitoring the use of practice rooms, midi lab, and recording studio as well as staffing the box office for concerts and recitals. They will also assist with department tasks such as: music library organization, program creation, instrument and equipment check outs, and social media and website updates.
Schedule: up to 28 hours per week
Compensation: $15.00
Reports to: Music Department Program Director

Essential Functions
- Maintain the integrity of the practice rooms, midi lab, and recording studio.
- Assist authorized recording technology studio lab monitors and midi lab monitors.
- Assist the ensemble directors with such duties as music library sorting and folder stuffing.
- Assist with music department social media postings and online ticketing.
- Serve as the spokesperson for the music department after hours by answering the telephone and assisting.
- Students and community members that may have questions about the music department.
- Serve as the primary greeter for all evening concerts and recitals in the Albert P. Smith Music Center.
- Monitor and manage traffic flow from the main foyer to the 2nd floor recital hall.
- Assist with instrument and equipment check in and check out
- Assist in creating programs for concerts
- Follow College policy on the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA).
Job Specifications Qualifications
- Associates Degree required
- Study of music or other performing arts preferred.
- Experience working in an office environment preferred.
- Experience working in a music venue preferred.
Skills
- Fluent in all google and Microsoft office applications
- Basic fluency with a design program such as Canva or other platform
- Basic understanding and recognition of Musical Instruments
- Ability to handle cash and online ticket sales in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty, students, other staff, and the general public in a respectful manner
- Strong interest in learning new skills on the job
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds
Mental Demands
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written) are required to be successful in this position
- Must have experience and be comfortable with public speaking
Working Conditions
- GRCC will comply with any mandated health and safety requirements. Compliance information is available on our policies website.
- Regular hours will be Monday - Thursday from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM
- Friday evenings will be required if a concert is scheduled
- Travel may be required for concerts off campus
