Municipal Wastewater Permitting Specialist - Merraine Group : Job Details

We are seeking a Scientist that specializes in municipal wastewater permitting for a highly respected firm in the Sacramento region that has an excellent statewide reputation for their involvement in environmental, water, and wastewater work.

The variety of projects that this Scientist will be involved in includes NPDES and WDR permitting, water and wastewater quality monitoring, and special studies.

Qualifications include:

• Experience with municipal NPDES permits that regulate the discharge of treated effluent to rivers and streams and Waste Discharge Requirements that regulate discharge to the land in California
• Expertise in water and wastewater quality assessments and monitoring, and conducting special studies for treatment plants
• BS degree in an environmental sciences field is required. MS or PhD desired.
• 5 or more years of experience

Practice areas/characteristics for a person in this senior level position could include:

• Project management – they need to be able to execute projects
• Regulatory permitting – this could involve WDR/NPDES permitting work. Someone who is close to regulatory permitting in generally may be able to expand their purview to WDR/NPDES permits if they have experience with other types of permits (e.g., master reclamation permits)
• Water quality and hydrology – someone with a tangible grasp on water quality and basic concepts of hydrology is important
• Groundwater or hydrogeology – The company is taking on more and more work in this area, so it would be great if someone had the skillset to work in this area. It would allow them to expand more so into this type of work as it applies to WDR/NPDES permitting.
• Data tabulation, figures, statistics – someone who knows how to handle/manipulate data, is proficient with Excel and perhaps has some statistics background that can be applied to projects
