High Moon Studios is looking for a talented Multiplayer Game Designer to join our team!

High Moon Studios, an Activision-Blizzard studio, is located in Carlsbad in sunny southern California. We are currently working on an unannounced AAA action title for the XBox 360 and PS3.

Responsibilities
  • Construct low-res geometry for multiplayer levels based on concept art, design documents, and top-down sketches.
  • Iterate and fine-tune map layouts based on feedback generated from team playtesting sessions.
  • Script gameplay events and objectives to enhance the level design.
  • Participate in daily play-testing sessions and provide critical feedback on concepts related to gameplay and level design in a group setting.
  • Collaborate with the team to create new innovative gameplay mechanics and scenarios.
  • Identify workflow issues and offer solutions for improvement.
  • Prioritize and self-manage tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Report to the Lead Game Designer.
  • Qualifications
  • A strong passion for competitive online multiplayer games.
  • Experience with 3D world editors (preferably Unreal or equivalent).
  • Understand the overall game design process (level flow, engagement ranges, item placement) and can apply this knowledge to level creation.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Communicate and pitch ideas across multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to take constructive criticism from peers and the Lead Level Designer.
  • Have pride and passion for your work, eager to deliver a highly polished final product.
  • Ability to explain the creative process that went into the creation of a level and how specific elements of the design enhance the experience.
  • Requirements
  • 3+ years of game industry experience as a multiplayer game designer.
  • Shipped at least 2 games on console or PC.
  • Provide playable examples of levels in relevant games to qualify for an interview.
  • A design test utilizing an Unreal 3 related engine may be required depending on previous experience.
  • Bonus Skills
  • Mechanics tuning and balancing.
