District Office1.0 FTE, Continuing Contract DESCRIPTION: The function of this position is to oversee the Multilingual Education Program within the Wenatchee School District under the direct supervision of the Director of State & Federal Programs. This individual will work alongside all Multilingual Education staff across the District to provide training, support, and ensure successful implementation of Multilingual Education Program goals and objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES: All responsibilities are focused across the District and include, but are not limited to the following priorities:Conduct/facilitate a local needs assessment that identifies the needs of multilingual students identified within the boundaries of the Wenatchee School District.Develop and oversee a District Multilingual Plan.Assist with OSPI grants related to Multilingual Education.Supervise the activities of Multilingual Educator staff to ensure services are completed in accordance with State & Federal requirements.Oversee all ELD services.Ensure Multilingual Education staff training is current and on-going.Develop and/or lead staff or community trainings related to Multilingual Education.Oversee the implementation of the annaul K-12 WIDA English language proficiency assessment, in coordination the District Assessment Coordinator and other assigned Special Program support staff. Assist with end-of-year evaluation and related data collection and reporting.Willingness to perform work or supervisory duties outside of the regular school schedule.Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: At least 5 years successful teaching experience.Experience in administrating school or district level programs/activities.Valid Washington State Teacher Certification. ELL endorseement required. Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish required.Knowledge of WA Sate Multilingual Education Program.Knowledge of WIDA Language Standards and Assessment.Experience in working with or among Multilingual families and students.Experience and background in teaching adult learners and working with culturally, socially, and economically diverse families.Strong collaboration skills required with the ability to lead teams of teachers, staff members, and other stakeholders.Proven ability to work effectively with building and district administrators.Demonstrated skill facilitating collaborative Professional Learning Community teams.Demonstrated effective development and presentation of training modules.Ability to be highly organized and maintain records and documents to ensure compliance as defined by OSPI and the WA State Multilingual Education Program.Ability to work alongside leadership and clearly communicate program progress, needs, successes, and deficiencies. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI. Employment is conditional based upon completion of the record check.
