DHI Communities is a division of D.R. Horton, Inc., focused on multifamily development.
We are currently seeking a Multifamily Purchasing Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining the most qualified and cost-effective products and labor contracts for apartment construction, managing the Purchasing Staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all purchasing activities for the multifamily division.
- Supervise Purchasing Staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline.
- Bid architectural plans to subcontractors and vendors.
- Ensure quality work at competitive prices.
- Oversee hiring of contractors, suppliers, and laborers.
- Interpret architectural drawings and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Respond to inquiries from potential vendors and field staff.
- Develop purchasing and logistics strategies at division, regional, and national levels.
- Identify sourcing opportunities for cost savings and quality improvements.
- Report on division operations and purchasing impact to the National Purchasing Manager.
- Review and manage costs of ongoing projects.
- Build strategic relationships and maintain a network of business contacts.
- Conduct all business ethically to serve customers and enhance company goodwill and profitability.
- Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise at least 2 employees.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience or training.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with all management levels.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Proficiency with MS Office and email.
Preferred:
- Experience with JD Edwards software.
- Knowledge of construction practices.
