Job Summary and QualificationsThe Telemetry Monitor Tech assists the nursing staff by continuously monitoring cardiac rhythms and performing various patient care activities as related to cardiac telemetry monitoring. Detect and document arrhythmias and notifies the nursing staff as needed.
What you will do in this role:
Assiststhe nurse by continually assessing the patients cardiac rhythm,rateand any significant changes in these, documenting strips every shift and with any changes.
Patient care activities are coordinated through collaboration and planning with other members of the health care team.
Able todemonstratethe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteriaappropriate tothe following age groups: adolescent, adult, geriatric.
Assignments are carried out accurately and efficiently and clarified when necessary.
Applies transmitters to newly admitted patients with telemetry order.
Demonstrates ability to effectively troubleshoot andidentifyproblems with equipment that are reportable to GE and Bio Med.
Completes quality audits as assigned accurately andtimely.
Retrieves telemetry transmitter when patients are discharged.
Answers telephone promptly with proper identification andrelaysall information appropriately,accuratelyand professionally.
Refers callsregardingpatient status to the nurse responsible for the delivery of care. Takes no phone orders from physicians or Allied Health professionals. Transfersthesesrequests and/or calls to the RN.
Visually and audiblymonitorsand analyzes patients cardiac rhythm. Accuratelyidentifiesbasic cardiac rhythm and any dysrhythmias. Immediately reports all significant changes to the patients nurse or charge nurse.
Maintainsaccurateand current records of telemetry patients. Documents patients rhythm strip at the beginning of the shift and any changes that occur. Sends original strips toappropriate unitat least every 24 hours, ifappropriate.
Achieves states goals related to job performance.
Assume responsibility and accountability for the economical and safeutilizationof telemetry supplies andensuresthat discontinued equipment is removed, cleaned properly, and placed in designated area.
Educational records reveal attendance at all required educational programs/in-services.
