Job Overview
Reporting to the Director, this role provides a point of contact for school districts regarding special education services and programming. It involves developing partnerships, leading monitoring and support services, and liaising with other departments and agencies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between school districts, cooperatives, and the department concerning special education services.
- Provide a point of contact within the Agency for assigned districts.
- Follow up on questions and needs, identify trends, and provide proactive support.
- Lead and participate in monitoring and support teams.
- Research, develop, and deliver training, technical assistance, and coaching to districts.
- Support data analysis, improvement planning, and evaluation to enhance outcomes.
- Assess and address non-compliance issues through findings and corrective actions.
- Participate in the department's regulatory functions and provide technical assistance on data collection and reporting.
- Contribute to the development and review of publications and materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education, Education, Educational Administration, or Pupil Personnel Services, or a Bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience. (Transcripts required at application.)
- At least two years of experience in providing education or related services to students with disabilities in relevant settings within the last five years.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding students with disabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of current issues and best practices in special education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Illinois educator and/or administrative license.
- Experience working with diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in various educational settings.
