Overview

Molecular Lab Technician CellCarta, a leading integrated pathology laboratory and global contract research organization, is seeking a full-time Molecular Laboratory Technician at our Naperville, Illinois location to support molecular pathology services, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide. Summary

You will be jointly responsible for the performance of molecular testing within our Genomics Unit. In this lab, you will perform DNA and/or RNA extractions and molecular analyses utilizing the latest technologies, including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized molecular analysis of varying complexity on different platforms
  • Control the operation of analyzers, signal malfunctions, perform required maintenance, and assist in system troubleshooting
  • Monitor lab processes and register data in the laboratory information management system (LIMS)
  • Prepare analyses, instrument devices, and samples according to procedures
  • Accurately document the lab work performed
  • Assist with data interpretation
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies (GCP, CAP/CLIA, ISO) and document all quality control activities accurately and systematically, with the ability to recognize outliers and correct them
  • Manage inventory levels and supply ordering within the department
  • Dispose of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines
Education
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in Biological Sciences, including Medical, Pharmaceutical or Biomedical laboratory technology, or Biochemistry
Qualifications
  • 2 years of previous experience in a molecular testing laboratory (preferred)
  • Experience with: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), qPCR, dPCR, RNA-seq, WGS, WES (preferred)
  • Detail-oriented with ability to function in a team environment as well as independently
  • Proficient with computer programs (Word, Excel, databases) and willingness to acquire new skills
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written
  • Flexible, enthusiastic attitude and decisive approach to work
Working Conditions
  • 40 hours per week, Monday Friday, 9am - 5pm
