Leidos' Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Architect to join our team… with the ability and experience to work on missile defense projects within the BMD Simulations and Analysis Portfolio. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for system development, including identifying technical issues, coordinating across the MASC-F program to resolve these issues, collaborating with application developers, reporting status at meetings, and working closely with test and integration teams. Additionally, they will collaborate with the MDA to ensure requirements and design considerations are managed, providing software guidance to agile development teams.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, be a strong team player, and establish solid working relationships with peers and technical staff within the program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
  • Work with the Chief Architect to ensure an integrated system solution is planned and architected.
  • Create and update SysML diagrams for the RepBox architecture.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies to enable system/software architecture options addressing product needs, considering cost, schedule, risk, and supportability.
  • Develop high-level product specifications focusing on system integration and extensibility.
  • Communicate system/software architecture concepts to multiple product development teams.
  • Communicate with leadership (internal or client) regarding software architecture and workflows.
  • Oversee the software development team's progress to ensure alignment with the system/software architecture.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or Master's with 6-10 years.
  • Experience with C++ software development.
  • Knowledge of software architectures and complex systems supporting product requirements.
  • Experience generating system design artifacts and UML/SysML diagrams using tools like Enterprise Architect or Cameo.
  • Experience with GitLab/Git for configuration management.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a US citizen with an active secret clearance.
  • Full-time onsite support required.
  • Resident of North Alabama area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, such as SAFe, in a technical environment.
  • Requirements generation and system interface development experience.
  • Experience with XML technologies, object-oriented design, and system requirements decomposition.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of Python or Java, user interfaces, and multi-core programming.
  • Relevant DoD or industry experience in Missile Defense.
