Responsibilities

• Develop an industry-leading recommendation system aimed at enhancing the user social experience on TikTok. This system will help users discover and connect with both old and new friends, fostering a sense of community and enjoyment on the platform.
• Deliver end-to-end machine learning solutions to address critical product challenges.
• Own the full stack machine learning system and optimize algorithms and infrastructure to improve recommendation performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and product engineers, to form and solve problems, refine machine learning algorithms, and communicate results.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent degree with a background in computer science, machine learning, or similar fields.
• Good knowledge of theoretical and empirical research in addressing research problems.
• Solid knowledge and experience with at least one popular deep learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and familiarity with deep neural network architectures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a passion for learning new techniques and tackling challenging problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Research experience in one or more of the following fields: applied machine learning, machine learning infrastructure, large-scale recommendation system, market-facing machine learning product.
• Strong first-author publications record in top AI conferences or journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL), or impactful arXiv publications.
• Strong track record in AI-related competitions or participation in high-visibility open-source AI projects.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python, and shell programming languages, with a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Job Information

Compensation: The base salary range in the selected city is $137,750 - $237,500 annually. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, experience, and location. Additional bonuses, incentives, and stock units may be available.
