Job DetailsJob Location Mission Viejo Family YMCA - Mission Viejo, CA Position Type Part Time Salary Range $16.50 - $18.89 Hourly Description We are looking to recruit Lifeguards to ensure the safety of members at our YMCA Swimming pools. The Lifeguard will explain safety rules to our members, warn them about unsafe situations, and enforce the rules of the pool when needed! You will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, locker rooms and restrooms. Top candidates are excellent communicators, swift and safety minded. Shift Times: Looking for part-time candidates available during these shift times: Morning Shift: 6:45am - 12:30pm Monday - Friday Afternoon/Night Shift: 2:00pm - 7:30pm Monday - Friday Saturdays and Sundays 7:00am - 2:00pm Responsibilities:
  • Perform lifesaving and pool safety duties as assigned
  • Ensure safe environment by performing routine pool maintenance tasks and operations
  • Report all safety-related incidents promptly and accurately
  • Perform all scheduled maintenance responsibilities to ensure equipment is operating properly, logs are maintained, and maintenance needs/repairs are reported promptly
  • Provide customer service to members and accurate information of offerings
  • Maintain records of swimming aquatics participation
  • Follow and enforce policies and procedures, safety standards, and pool rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • Must be at least 15 1/2 years of age with valid work permit
  • Completion of lifeguard training. First Aid, AEDand CPR certification. (YMCA pays for training and certification)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Be able to pass an in-water swim & skills test.
