Job Description :

Join our dynamic team as a Millwright Trainee, where you will play a crucial role in our ongoing efforts for improvement. By leveraging your troubleshooting skills and applying proactive maintenance strategies, you will contribute to the safe and effective operation of our machinery.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and major machinery like debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure timely and efficient operations.
  • Assist in moving and repositioning machinery and equipment safely.
  • Utilize hand tools and measuring instruments to adjust parts for optimal performance.
  • Align various machines leveraging hoists and tools to maintain operational integrity.
  • Assemble and install equipment, employing both hand and power tools as needed.
  • Measure and drill holes accurately for machinery setup.
  • Replace faulty machine parts and ensure proper alignment of moving components.
  • Level and align bedplates to ensure machinery operates smoothly.
  • Dismantle machinery as required for maintenance procedures.
  • Securely attach moving parts using appropriate tools.

Qualifications for Success:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A self-motivated individual who can perform safely under pressure.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and background check.
  • Willingness to travel and complete the West Fraser Qualified Millwright training program.
  • Strong safety orientation and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Ability to comprehend technical drawings and printed instructions.
  • Pass the trade qualifications test.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime.
  • Comfort with climbing ladders and accessing elevated work areas.
  • Able to work in confined spaces as necessary.
  • Skilled in using tablets for documenting maintenance activities.

Additional Skills That Will Set You Apart:

  • Experience with cutting torches (Oxygen/Acetylene).
  • Welding skills (GMAW and SMAW).
  • Previous experience as a Millwright.
