We have a Middleware Software Development opportunity supporting a new weather program at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is a Full-time, on-site position at the William J. Hughes Technical Center.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.

The ideal candidate will work independently and as part of a team, providing assistance in software requirements analysis, design, reviews, development, testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems. Responsibilities include programming in languages such as C, C++, Java, SQL, and Assembly, and interfacing databases with client-side interfaces, including API integration.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math, or a related technical field with at least 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, and seven (7) years of related work experience.
  • Or a Master's Degree with at least 30 semester hours in relevant subjects and five (5) years of related experience.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Java, API Integration, RabbitMQ, Database queries (MySQL, SQL, PostgreSQL), AMQP, UNIX/Linux (RHEL).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, research, and solve problems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, Docker, GitLab, OpenShift, OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, Spring Boot or Spring Framework.

Daily Job Duties:

  • Provide 2nd level engineering support.
  • Support development, testing, and troubleshooting of weather systems software.
  • Review system and software documentation, participate in design reviews and meetings.
  • Understand systems, databases, networking, virtualization.
  • Produce efficient code, support Linux-based applications, troubleshoot, debug, and maintain software.
  • Provide remote end-user support via helpdesk.
  • Full-time work with flexible hours and occasional travel.
