NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Mid-Level Web Developer based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

This person is responsible for building and making improvements to the company's digital platforms including the website, mobile app, and a variety of other public facing digital properties.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the development assignments created through Platform Priorities and communicated by weekly scrums to efficiently update code to the website code base.
  • Work with Operations team to write code that supports our associated databases, data sources and dependencies, workflow, information architecture, and legacy systems currently in production.
  • Create, build, and test new WordPress Components, Plugins and Custom Theme features or extend previously created components, for simple, intuitive, author editing of pages; write code using PHP.
  • Utilize deep understanding of existing digital platform including associated databases, data sources and dependencies, workflow, information architecture, and legacy systems currently in production.
  • Maintain ownership of new documentation as needed, and evaluate existing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage WordPress projects, and be involved in overall site architecture and code delivery.
  • Facilitate and participate in the testing of web applications unit and system.
  • Design and code superior technical solutions; enforce coding standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for the end-user experience via the interface, sitemap, site architecture, feeds architecture and back-end code functionality.
  • Work closely with all associated Operational teams including:

• Designers to bridge design and engineering work effort

• Operations team during Live Events

• Deployments of new code

• Project Management teams as assigned for new product roadmaps

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills / experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from four (4) year college or university; and a minimum five (5) years of current Web Development experience (Server-side and Client-side development); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient on all Company provided hardware and software with experience in mobile technologies.
  • Understanding of web standards and protocols (HTML, CSS, HTTP, etc.)
  • Experience with Source Control tools (SVN, GIT, etc)
  • Ability to develop web applications for high traffic consumer facing websites
  • Ability to administer and develop with Ad Serving platforms and tools
  • Ability to develop web applications using PHP
  • Ability to develop React Native mobile applications on IOS or Android
  • Ability to develop websites using responsive design
  • Ability to develop for and within an enterprise CMS
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years with WordPress Content Management platform
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years with custom development experience using WordPress CMS
  • Minimum 3 Years experience developing with industry UI/UX best practices
  • Minimum 1-3 Years analyzing and optimizing code performance both Desktop and Mobile Web
  • Familiarity architecting large technical solutions
  • Ability to work in a UNIX environment
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong writing and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate, present and defend ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Ability to conduct research into application integration issues and products
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
