Job DescriptionMicrosoft Power BI Developer (13396-1)Location: New York, NYWork Model: On-SiteEmployment Type: ContractSeniority Level: Mid-Senior LevelOverviewA leading firm in the insurance and reinsurance industry is seeking an experienced Microsoft Power BI Developer to design and deliver high-impact business intelligence solutions. This position is based in New York, NY, with a focus on developing dashboards and data models that enable data-driven decision-making.Hourly Pay Rate: $82/hourVisa Sponsorship: Not availableRelocation Assistance: Not availablePreferred Industry Background: ReinsuranceKey Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and analytical reports using Power BI
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable insights
• Create and manage data models, perform transformations with Power Query, and write complex DAX expressions
• Integrate data using Azure Databricks and dbt to create gold-level reporting objects
• Develop and schedule Azure Analysis Services tabular models and implement security configurations
• Validate and troubleshoot data, ensure quality, and optimize performance
• Prepare technical documentation, including data sources, report specs, and processes

Technical Skill Requirements

• Power BI, Power Query (M Language), DAX, Power Apps, Power Pivot, Power View
• Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Lake Analytics/Store, Azure Analysis Services (SSAS), SSRS
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with MongoDB, dbt, and Azure Automation Runbooks
• BI tool experience a plus (e.g., IBM Cognos, Tableau, QlikView)
• Proficient in designing paginated reports, subreports, drill-down and drill-through functionalities

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or related field
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Power BI development
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and data warehousing
• Experience with Databricks and dbt
• Strong proficiency in Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and data modeling
• Reinsurance industry experience preferred
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Power BI certification or similar is highly preferred
