Control Lab Technician – Microbiology
Job Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Lab Technician –is responsible for conducting microbiological and chemical testing on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, and packaged items. This role ensures all testing complies with SOPs, cGMP guidelines, and regulations. The technician must maintain required documentation, uphold lab safety and cleanliness standards, and communicate any quality or compliance concerns promptly to management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety rules, SOPs, cGMP guidelines, and applicable federal, state, and company regulations to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Calibrate and maintain QC laboratory equipment.
- Conduct chemical and physical testing (e.g., pH, density, color, odor, appearance, NFTIR) in accordance with Standard Testing Procedures (STPs).
- Perform microbiological analysis on various sample types and document procedures and results accurately.
- Prepare clear, complete, and accurate laboratory reports and records.
- Evaluate and interpret test results, identifying deviations from established standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and laboratory equipment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to lab hygiene practices.
- Communicate any quality or compliance issues to the Lab Manager or Quality team immediately.
- Assist with additional laboratory tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred.
- Associate degree accepted with relevant laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Strong attention to detail and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Capable of following verbal and written instructions, including SOPs and directions from the Lab Manager.
