Gray AES is looking for a Manger, Process Design to join our team in either our Atlanta, GA Cincinnati, OH Lexington, KY or Louisville, KY office.

Who we want… (Requirements)

Associate's degree in mechanical drafting or engineering, or an equivalent combination of certification and proven experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of design methodologies.

Eight years of experience in preparing 2D drawings and 3D models for shop fabrication or field construction is required, with significant expertise in food and beverage production plant projects.

Proficiency with tools such as Plant 3D, Navisworks, and Revit is preferred, along with familiarity with P&IDs, process and/or packaging equipment layouts, and 3D scanning. Fieldwork experience and the ability to actively contribute to problem-solving within a collaborative, team-based environment are essential.

This position requires a high degree of organization, creativity, attention to detail, and a focus on producing quality work. Exceptional communication skills are essential to effectively participate in internal and customer progress meetings and maintain professionalism.

Qualifications

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Lead and oversee a team of Process Designers to ensure accurate, on-time, and on-budget delivery of design models and construction drawings.
  • Act as primary point of contact for all design related activities with customers and internal teams through all project phases, from estimating to commissioning and start-up.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process updates, software upgrades, and standardization of deliverables.
  • Review specifications for compliance, manage change orders, and provide technical direction on design activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering technical growth, professional development, and high performance within the department.
  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews for their team members and participate in resource planning sessions.
  • Demonstrate a “technical + business mindset,” confidently navigating ambiguity and dynamic project environments.
  • Model core company values and coach team members in embodying them in their work.
  • Oversee the execution of multiple small-to-large-scale projects, coordinating design resources and ensuring efficient workflows.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

Travel (approximately 10-30%) is required, varying with project phases and customer engagement needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise a team of 4+ Process Designers, ensuring project goals are met and team members receive necessary support and training.
