Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and innovative Metallurgical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development, improvement, and optimization of metal powder processing and materials performance. The successful candidate will work across departments to ensure high-quality metallurgical practices are implemented in line with production goals, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. This role requires strong analytical skills, good communication skills, a deep understanding of metallurgy and materials science, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize processes in both research and production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze material properties and performance using metallurgical principles to support manufacturing, product development, and quality assurance.Design, test, and evaluate producing metal powders.Investigate and resolve issues related to material failures, quality concerns, and process inefficiencies.Recommend improvements to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and quality assurance to implement new materials and process innovations.Provide technical support to the sales team on product applications.Support root cause analyses and failure mode assessments using metallographic, mechanical, and chemical testing methods.Ensure compliance with industry and company standards for safety, quality, and environmental impact.Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, process changes, test results, and compliance reporting.Stay current with advancements in metallurgy and materials science, applying relevant findings to business needs.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline (Master's or Ph.D. a plus).2–5 years of experience in a metallurgical or materials engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Knowledge of metal processing techniques such as casting or powder metallurgy.Experience with metallurgical analysis tools such as optical microscopy, SEM, XRD, and hardness testing.Familiarity with industry standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.) and quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma).Proficiency with engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, MATLAB, or metallurgical modeling tools) and data analysis programs.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams.Excellent problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to technical challenges.Preferred AttributesExperience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.Familiarity with advanced or emerging materials such as metal powders, superalloys, or additive manufacturing.Project management experience in a technical environment.Work EnvironmentPosition is located on-site and will be in a private office, but requires oversite and physical presence at times in lab and manufacturing floor environments.Must be able to work in areas with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial materials.May require use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols.
