Charter Casting is looking for a Metallics Category Lead! The Metallics Category Lead will drive strategic process improvement initiatives focused on enhancing the Procure to Pay process, specifically within the metals category. This role will lead the development, execution, and implementation of a complete category strategy for assigned categories, collaborating with key stakeholders and Supply Chain team members to ensure value creation and alignment with market and business requirements. Position Specifics:
  • Location: Woodstock, IL
  • Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in procurement, specifically within the steel or other metals industry or related materials.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in supplier management and cost reduction.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with procurement software and industry-standard tools.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of global market trends and regulatory requirements affecting steel or other metals procurement.
Preferred experience:
  • Technical knowledge of steel or other metals products and processes.
  • Experience in negotiating long-term agreements within the steel or other metals industry.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Oracle.
  • Experience in process improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge of best practice purchasing techniques.
What you'll focus on:
  • Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategic procurement policies and processes for steel or other metals raw materials sourcing that align with overall business objectives.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, pricing, and sourcing opportunities.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and supply chain reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and finance, to forecast metals requirements and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans to enhance supplier relationships and material quality.
  • Cost Optimization: Lead initiatives for cost savings and value optimization within the procurement process, tracking key performance indicators for continuous improvement.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry regulations, sustainability practices, and advancements in procurement strategies.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation decisions are tailored to the unique circumstances of each position and candidate.
