The Merchant Associate plays a key role in managing merchandising functions for assigned categories. This position involves contributing to business objectives, achieving sales and margin goals, executing merchandising strategies, and providing analytical support and insights to the merchandise team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Collaborating on the development of sales and margin plans as well as sales forecasts for assigned categories.
• Managing open-to-buy positioning while purchasing merchandise for assigned categories.
• Participating in negotiations with vendors regarding merchandise pricing, quantity, delivery, and terms.
• Implementing effective merchandise packaging and presentation techniques to boost productivity.
• Assessing merchandise mixes based on consumer trends and business needs to generate planograms and provide recommendations on assortments.
• Reviewing advertising and promotion analytics to evaluate performance and refine merchandise plans.
• Implementing category pricing strategies and managing exit strategies for slow-selling items.
• Conducting competitive pricing assessments based on sales and margin objectives.
• Researching competitive landscape and consumer trends to align with strategy.
• Identifying merchandising risks and opportunities, and presenting actionable recommendations.
• Providing effective guidance to Merchant Assistants.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or an operations-related field
• 2-5 years of professional merchandising or retail operations experience
• Familiarity with vendor negotiation techniques
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities
• Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment

According to the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we take into account various non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. The pay range for this position starts at $67,500.00.
