Job Title: Mental Health Group Specialist Location: City of Hamiltion or Oxford Job Type: Full-Time Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with 3 years of experience in mental health or
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related mental health field from an accredited institution
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Counselor (LPC) preferred
  • Prior experience in child-serving mental health systems.
  • TFM Certified Practitioner strongly preferred; willingness to obtain required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic Windows applications.
Job Summary: The Mental Health Group Specialist plays a key role in supporting the emotional, behavioral, and psychological growth of clients within a structured treatment program. This position is responsible for facilitating therapeutic groups, implementing individualized treatment plans, and promoting a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. The specialist works closely with clinical and educational staff, participates in treatment planning, and communicates regularly with families to ensure coordinated care. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage crisis situations, and a commitment to professional development within trauma-informed and evidence-based models of care. Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate Therapeutic Groups: Lead evidence-based therapeutic sessions that support clients' emotional and behavioral growth.
  • Implement Treatment Plans: Help develop and carry out individualized treatment plans and strategy sheets.
  • Promote Client Engagement: Conduct meetings that foster client participation, leadership, and self-determination.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Participate in unit meetings, support educational staff, and maintain regular communication with parents/guardians.
  • Ensure Quality & Safety: Contribute to treatment adjustments, apply crisis intervention techniques appropriately, and maintain required certifications (TCI, CPR, First Aid).
  • Maintain Documentation: Complete daily progress notes, incident reports, and track client progress using point systems.
  • Uphold Program Standards: Follow program schedules, ensure safe and organized environments, and use resources responsibly.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • $18.00 to $21.50 USD

Work Environment: Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems.
