POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Membership Director is responsible for providing Cause-Driven management and operations focused around membership operations and general site operations including but not limited to recruitment of new members, member communication, scholarship processing, leadership/support with Social Responsibility activities/events, leadership support with senior member events/activities, special events/activities. The Director will also lead/supervise site operations, associate development, and general site leadership. Day to day operations include associate supervision, support fiscal control, program development, program area facility management/maintenance, program/services optimization and fulfillment. The Director is also responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and leading their associate team in superior levels of member service and engagement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • In coordination: plan, develop, and execute high standards and engagement in services for members within Association guidelines and Strategic Plan • Focus on quality experiences and engagement within programs, services, and activities • Recruit, hire, train, lead, and coach talented program associates and volunteers in all areas of responsibility • Foster an environment that is positive and motivating to families, children, and peers. • Work within assigned budget in all areas of responsibility • Support in the budget process as assigned • Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and online registration. Coordinates with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues. • Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to associates. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions. • Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA. • Participate in successful annual support campaign and provide leadership to associate giving and engagement • Ability to work with diverse population, all ages, genders, and sexual orientations • Attend and actively participate in all meetings as assigned • Serves as Leader on Duty as assigned • Incorporate the four character values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and adhere to the YCM Code of Conduct • Communicate the Y mission and objectives to the community. • Assist in all other areas as assigned. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. QUALIFICATIONS: The Membership Director will meet the qualifications set forth by the Y in Central Maryland. Associates shall be of good character and reputation; capable of carrying out assigned responsibilities; capable of accepting training and supervision; and capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing as applicable to the job responsibility. Minimum qualifications include: • High school education or equivalent • Preferably 2 years of college or equivalent • Sale experience preferred but not required • Preferably supervisory and customer service experience • Flexible Schedule, days, nights and weekends - this position requires significant amount of evening and weekend attendance • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community • Proficient computer skills • Current CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire) • Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before scheduled to work • At least 18 years of age 2 PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Will be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, push, and lift up to 50 pounds. 2. While performing duties the employee may occasionally work in the outside weather conditions, and is exposed to wet, cold and /or humid conditions. 3. Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking. 4. Will be exposed to cleaning supplies. 5. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. 6. Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications. An offer of employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results to meet minimum requirements for the position. They may include a background check, drug test, driver's license record, CPS, and/or Criminal Background check. Additional driver's license check, CPS, Criminal Background check, alcohol and/or drug testing may be required to be processed in the future in order to meet and maintain the minimum requirements of this position.
