JOB TITLE: Membership Clerk EMPLOYER: Boys & Girls Club of Lake County (BGCLC) DEPARTMENT: Program Department REPORTS TO: Respective Program Manager STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt PAY: $18-21 an hour START DATE: Immediate SUMMARY The Membership Clerk is the first point of contact at Club sites, playing a vital role in maintaining a welcoming and safe environment. This role includes administrative duties such as managing youth sign-in/sign-out, maintaining records, communicating with parents and guardians, and supporting program staff with critical information and front-desk coverage. The Clerk is instrumental in reinforcing Club policies, building relationships with families, and ensuring strong member engagement and accountability. Typical shifts vary by site and generally fall between 2:15 PM and 7:00 PM on weekdays. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFront Desk Operations and Member Engagement
- Greet members and visitors with warmth and professionalism.
- Monitor sign-in/sign-out procedures for members to ensure safety and accountability.
- Direct youth to appropriate program areas and communicate effectively with parents.
- Translate for Site Managers when necessary, including during disciplinary conversations.
Parent & Guest Communication
- Provide timely updates to parents about Club programs, schedules, and events.
- Collect and follow up on permission slips and parent forms.
- Register all guests and volunteers; ensure they are directed appropriately.
Administrative Support
- Accurately enter and update member information in the Membership Tracking System.
- Process and record membership payments and maintain supporting documentation for audits.
- Create and maintain membership files and update contact information regularly.
Facility Communication and Visual Management
- Keep bulletin boards, parent communication areas, and signage updated and visually engaging.
- Maintain the site's calendar of events and promote upcoming programs.
Team Support and Club Culture
- Enforce Club rules and model respectful, responsible behavior to youth.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Provide general administrative support to Site Managers and staff as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required)
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Experience working with youth aged 6-18 preferred
- Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written
- Efficient typing, filing, and data input capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism
- Must pass a background check, drug test, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
