Essential Functions
- Supports the clinic by assisting with patient medication management.
- Receives, reviews, and facilitates requests for medication renewal.
- Reviews requests according to guidelines, pends the requests in the electronic medical record, and routes to prescriber for review and signature.
- When electronic prescribing is unavailable, transmits prescription information to pharmacies by phone, fax, or paper as an agent of the provider.
- Acts as a resource for patients on procedures for obtaining prescriptions, generic medications, prior approval requirements, insurance procedures, and other medication-related issues.
- Completes medication prior authorization paperwork or e-Forms for signoff by the clinical care team in collaboration with the patient.
- Monitors the progress of prior authorization statuses throughout the review process, updating relevant parties as necessary.

Licenses and Credentials
Experience in Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care (1-2 years) and Medication Administration/Pharmacy (1-2 years) required. Experience with electronic medical record systems and Outlook preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to clinical practice and patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of medication abbreviations, symbols, indications, and dosages, along with common medication questions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated service excellence skills including active listening, problem solving, and maintaining composure in emotional situations.
