  • Bachelor's in Medical Technology or Bachelor's in related Science recognized by NYS department of education
  • NYS Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
  • Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lab Management. Perform specialized and complex diagnostic procedures; accurately prepare reagents and maintain proper inventory of laboratory section supplies; interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinical condition in order to explain test results; communicate stat and critical lab results; perform quality control, routine and advanced maintenance and instrument troubleshooting
  • Technical Knowledge. Maintain knowledge of required computer functions associated with testing and to assist in completing testing and workflow management; may conduct research and development of new or updated technologies and provide written evaluation to supervisor
  • Leadership. Assist in training new and existing employees on new procedures and instrumentation; act as a technical consultant to technologists, technicians and/or students rotating through their area; teach in the School of Medical Technology and Lab rotations as needed
EDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE:$33.00 - $39.00The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
