Medical Records Clerk
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Medical Records Clerk for a long-term contract in Chattanooga, TN. Schedule: M-F, 8a-4p. Rate: $15.43/hr.
Seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to maintain, update, and securely store medical records for all department clinics. This role involves handling record requests, ensuring compliance with confidentiality laws, and providing quality customer service to both internal staff and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain inactive medical records and process requests from clinics.
- Update the Master Patient Index and prepare records for microfilming or destruction.
- Process legal correspondence and release-of-information requests, ensuring confidentiality by providing only authorized information.
- Respond to inquiries regarding medical records, immunization histories, and general information.
- Fax requested records and maintain consistent standards in record formation, maintenance, and disposition.
- Enter and retrieve data from databases; file and retrieve hard copies of records.
- Receive and receipt payments for medical records.
- Maintain daily logs of activities and assist with other clerical duties as needed.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Understanding of federal, state, and county regulations related to medical records and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in general office practices, file maintenance, and customer service.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to accurately file, retrieve, and manage large volumes of records.
- Proficient with basic computer hardware, software, and database entry.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent computer data entry, filing, and retrieving medical records.
- Intermittent sitting, walking, and standing; lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Use of step stool, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases in a clinical environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years clerical experience, preferably in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
