Job Duties: Perform laboratory testing, verifying results using knowledge of principles, QC, and instruments, and interpret results based on physiology. Perform and report all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy and obtain blood or other body fluid from patients. Collect blood specimens utilizing the appropriate venipuncture, capillary fingerstick, or heelstick technique with patients of all age groups including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Set up cultures, read gram stains, and perform rapid kit testing in Microbiology. Accurately identify patients prior to collection of specimens using two patient identifiers and accurately label the specimens in the presence of the patient as established by laboratory policy.
