Medical Dosimetrist - Radiation Oncology Location: Elmhurst, NY Employment Type: Contract Pay Rate: • Travel: $3,240.50/week • Local: $3,000/week Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Dosimetrist to join a dedicated radiation oncology team in Elmhurst, NY. In this essential role, you will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, physicists, and therapists to develop and implement radiation treatment plans that ensure both safety and therapeutic effectiveness. Responsibilities:
  • Develop precise computerized treatment plans for EBRT and Brachytherapy per physician prescriptions.
  • Perform complex dose calculations and ensure mathematical accuracy.
  • Design beam arrangements and field shaping devices for external radiation treatments.
  • Communicate treatment plans effectively with the clinical team and provide technical support as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and radiation protection guidelines under the Chief Physicist's direction.
  • Document treatment plans and dose calculations in electronic medical records (EMRs).
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary care planning meetings to support integrated patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA), safety checks, and equipment calibration.
  • Support radiation therapists with troubleshooting technical aspects of treatment delivery.
  • Coordinate dosimetry workflow and collaborate with the broader clinical team.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy, Physics, Health Sciences, or related field
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) - Must hold current certification from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical dosimetry experience
  • Proficiency with MOSAIQ and Pinnacle treatment planning systems
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, radiobiology, radiation physics, and treatment equipment
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
