About Our Client

Our Client is the nation's leading occupational health services provider, recognized as one of “America's Greatest Workplaces”. Physicians spend the majority of their time in direct patient care while also participating in medical leadership and clinic quality improvement initiatives.

Position Summary

As Clinic Medical Director, you will:

  • Provide direct outpatient occupational medicine patient care, including pre‑employment physicals, surveillance testing, minor injury management, return‑to‑work planning, and urgent care service.
  • Lead clinical execution, work with physical therapy and operations leadership, oversee quality outcomes, and monitor key performance indicators such as practice indicators, turnaround time (TAT), referral rate, and lost‑time cases.
  • Supervise clinicians and staff, ensure compliance with APC regulations, and cultivate a professional, collaborative work environment aligned with their values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care in outpatient occupational health clinics.
  • Implement and uphold their clinical model in collaboration with therapists and administrative leadership.
  • Monitor and improve clinical metrics (e.g., case duration, lost‑time cases, rechecks)
  • Provide mentorship, training, and oversight for clinicians and support staff
  • Participate in strategic center operations: staffing, budgeting, workflows, payer relationships, and client service delivery

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited program.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in a recognized specialty (Occupational, Family, Sports, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, etc.) preferred
  • Active, unrestricted California medical license and DEA registration.
  • FMCSA/NRCME certification required or willingness to obtain; our client often provides training for certification
  • Preferably experience in occupational medicine, employee health, urgent care, or related outpatient setting.
  • Strong competencies in the core values: service mentality, detail orientation, sense of urgency, flexibility, and initiative
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, clinical leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary ranging from approximately $260,000 to $350,000+ depending on location and experience, inclusive of Medical Director stipend
  • Incentive bonuses: monthly RVU bonus, quarterly quality care bonus, center performance bonuses
  • Generous PTO package: about 24 days paid time off (plus rollover), 5–6 CME days, and ~6 paid holidays
  • Comprehensive benefits: malpractice coverage (claims-based with tail), relocation assistance (where applicable), CME reimbursement, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, commuter benefits, identity theft protection, colleague discounts, and leadership/career development programs
  • Optional teaching opportunities with students and residents; training in occupational medicine is provided

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Outpatient-only clinical practice with predictable weekday hours and no night/weekend routine care.
  • Blend of clinical care and leadership responsibilities, ideal for physicians interested in both patient care and quality management.
  • Supportive multi-disciplinary teams including physical therapy collaboration and strong operational backing.
  • Opportunity to serve diverse populations across key California cities like Modesto, Concord, Stockton, Fresno, Sacramento, and Los Angeles metro locations.
  • Our client's national infrastructure and reputation support ongoing professional growth and institutional stability.
