Medical Assistant Opportunity

The Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Schedule:

  • Two - 12-hour shifts. These are scheduled 2 times a week. Can be Monday - Thursday. 6:30am arrival (first patient at 7am) last patient scheduled at 6:15pm (potentially leaving 6:45pm/7pm)
  • Two - 6-hour shifts. These are scheduled 2 times a week. Can be Monday - Friday. If first patient is at 6:30am arrival (first patient 7am) last patient scheduled at 12:45pm (potentially leaving 1:15pm/1:30pm) OR can be a PM shift that starts 12:30pm first patient at 1pm. Last patient at 6:15pm, estimated leave at 6:45pm/7pm
  • Must be willing to travel between ALL ORLAND (Orlando, Winter Park, and Lake Mary)

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Rooming patients and documents all vital information
  • Scribing information for the dermatologist
  • Providing post op wound care to patients
  • Drawing blood and suture removal
  • Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
  • Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

  • Surgical photographs
  • Biopsies punch, DIF and shave
  • Excisions
  • Electrodessication and curettage
  • I&D
  • Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
  • Phototherapy
  • Injections
  • Koh preps
  • Trichograms
  • Tzank preps
  • Dermabrasion
  • Patch testing
  • Blue light

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Post High School education in a medical support field:

Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
  • Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
  • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Must possess organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
