Medicaid Program Specialist 1-2

Join our team as a Medicaid Program Specialist 1-2 and make a direct impact on the lives of Louisiana families. In this role, you'll use your knowledge of Medicaid programs and policies to help members access vital healthcare services. You'll work independently in the Louisiana Medicaid Eligibility Determination System (LaMEDS) to research cases, process applications and renewals, and provide clear, accurate information to members, potential members, and providers. You'll apply critical thinking, empathy, and cultural competence to every interaction, while contributing to the success of a high-performing call center. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in research and analysis related to Medicaid programs; public health, public relations, social services, health services, or administrative services; OR
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
  • A bachelor's degree.

Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

  • Apply knowledge of Medicaid programs, policies, and procedures to research cases, determine eligibility, and process applications and renewals in LaMEDS.
  • Communicate eligibility decisions, program coverage, and case updates clearly and accurately to members, potential members, and providers.
  • Handle case maintenance tasks, including demographic updates, income changes, adding or removing case members, and issuing duplicate cards.
  • Deliver professional, empathetic, and culturally competent customer service through phone, email, and other communication methods.
  • Meet or exceed call center performance standards, including first call resolution, customer satisfaction, and service level goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement initiatives, and team efforts to ensure compliance, accuracy, and continuous growth.
