Location: Newark, DE | Full-Time/Regular

We seek a degreed mechanical engineer eager to work in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. The role involves working with senior staff from conceptual design through construction and commissioning of various facilities, including educational, public works, water/wastewater, transportation, and government projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in building mechanical and plumbing systems, including HVAC, piping, fire protection, and industrial systems.

Position Summary

Responsible for mechanical engineering designs, applying general engineering principles to plan, organize, and coordinate projects with minimal supervision. Will serve as a technical advisor, mentor less experienced engineers, and represent the firm externally. Opportunities exist for project management and team leadership growth.

Essential Functions
  • Perform engineering calculations and assessments for mechanical design solutions.
  • Conduct field investigations, load studies, energy modeling, and code reviews.
  • Create mechanical design documents for bidding and construction.
  • Oversee junior staff's design and drafting work, ensuring quality control.
  • Coordinate designs with client requirements and local codes, liaising with authorities.
  • Address complex design and construction issues proactively.
  • Manage small to medium projects with significant mechanical components.
  • Demonstrate ownership, problem-solving skills, and motivation.
  • Required Skills
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

    • Willingness to learn diverse mechanical systems.
    • Ability to collaborate across disciplines.
    • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and load simulation programs.
    • Knowledge of building, energy, and mechanical codes.
    Required Experience
    • Bachelor's in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
    • 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
    • Experience in designing HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
    • Project management and construction administration experience are advantages.
    • PE license is required.
    Working Conditions

    Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork in diverse conditions. Hybrid-remote options available. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and climb stairs/ladders as needed.
