Job Responsibilities

Report directly to WMATA Task Manager or an assigned manager;

Prepare rough order of magnitude, detailed estimates, and change order estimates for construction projects;

Review scope, specifications, drawings, and layouts to calculate costs using labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor data;

Support price negotiations and obtain quotes for materials and services;

Perform cost estimating and budgeting functions;

Ensure estimates comply with WMATA practices and procedures.

Required Background and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, with at least 10 years of estimating experience;
• Deep knowledge of mechanical systems such as ventilation, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.;
• Ability to maintain confidentiality;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially spreadsheet software for estimating and data collection.

Preferred Qualifications

• AACEi Certification or equivalent;
• Experience with transit authority projects and job-site construction;
• Experience estimating building automation and controls systems;
• Familiarity with WMATA's project management software (Procore);
• Knowledge of government and unionized environments.

Additional Details

• Salary Range: $90,000 to $118,000 annually;
• Seniority Level: Mid-Senior level;
