Mechanical EngineerScope: * Negotiate/collaborate cross functionally with multiple departments - Industrial design, product design/integrity, EE, manufacturing, SW and Tech groups to refine/execute the vision for the product. * Develop tech knowledge in areas outside your areas of expertise to understand other teams' design constraints & craft creative solutions to tech problems. * Collaborate with outside vendors & internal manufacturing experts in order to optimize designs for function, aesthetic & manufacturability. * Utilize 2D & 3D CAD in order to communicate design intent/inspection requirements. * Ensure fit/form/function throughout the life of the product through stress/tolerance analysis, DFMEA, prototyping, testing, & failure analysis. Required: * CAD Skills: 3D CAD experience required - NX preferred, 2D drafting & GD&T preferred. * Mechanical intuition, spatial reasoning, creative problem solving, overcoming design challenges, attentive to detail. * Strong Engineering Fundamentals: Statics, strength of materials, statistics, material science. * Flexible design abilities and knowledge: tolerance analysis, design for assembly & manufacturability, electro-mechanical integration, design for high volume manufacturing, simple fixture design, initial product layouts, understanding of Statistical Process Controls (SPC), understanding of metrology (basic knowledge of measurement systems), mechanism design. * Good communication skills. Pluses: * Experience in the design cycle from concept all the way through manufacturing is a plus. * Experience designing mechanical components for high volume manufacturing is a plus - especially injection molded parts, sheet metal components, die-cast & machined parts.
