Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Mechanical Engineer in Richland, WA. This position supports Navarro-ATL, which operates the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL comprises Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • Support the 222-S Complex with mechanical engineering duties, including design, drafting, developing work packages, ECNs, field walk-downs, specifications, calculations, testing, troubleshooting, reviews, and field work planning.
  • Perform engineering work following applicable codes, standards, and procedures, demonstrating problem-solving skills and engineering judgment.
  • Develop and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance plans for mechanical equipment, analyzing equipment operation and recommending repairs or replacements.
  • Prepare technical reports, review designs and shop drawings, and perform mechanical analysis using software like MathCad, AutoCAD, and Smart Plant.
  • Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems and support safety and design change implementations within the 222-S Complex.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers and lead specific tasks or projects as needed.
  • Evaluate proposals and system designs, making recommendations to ensure system efficiency and longevity.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to define system specifications and requirements.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience working in a nuclear facility.
Compensation

Grade 18: $106,663 - $134,588. The final grade level will depend on the candidate's qualifications and the company's needs.
