Servicing hundreds of clients from Madison to Milwaukee, Summerset Marine provides the highest level of expertise to design, install and support any pier and boat lift system, always on call for any service needs.About the roleThe Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating precise 3D designs and drawings using CAD software, ensuring all specifications for size, capacity, performance, and quality requirements are met. This role supports sales with technical inquiries, assists shop and installation personnel with troubleshooting, and collaborates with teams to resolve quality issues. The Mechanical Designer also reviews and approves drawings for manufacturing release, manages Bills of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system, and ensures proper revision control. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and effective communication skills to support efficient product development and production operations.What you'll doDevelop and maintain accurate product cost estimates.Provide technical design support to the sales team, addressing inquiries and offering solutions.Collaborate with shop and installation personnel to troubleshoot and resolve design or assembly issues.Identify and implement corrective actions to address quality concerns.Review and approve technical drawings for release to manufacturing, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Maintain strict revision control of all design documents and updates.Prepare and export finalized drawings to the appropriate personnel or production equipment.Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system to ensure accuracy and traceability.Perform other duties as needed.QualificationsBachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering preferred.1-3 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and practical experience in a related field.Proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is highly desirable.Experience working with engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, or production documentation is preferred.Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, milling, and welding.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Work Behaviors:Quality of WorkConsistently produces accurate work.Commitment and InitiativeConsistently demonstrates commitment to the Company's success and growth.Customer-focused (both internal and external customers).Can identify problems/issues and participate in problem resolution as appropriate for job level.Perseverance can-do attitude.Managing Time and ResourcesEffectively and efficiently manages workload with appropriate sense of urgency.Flexible and adaptable to meet changing priorities and workload.Meets established goals.Reliable and punctual.Working with OthersIs seen as a team player; gains trust by supporting colleagues; is a collaborator.Makes others better.Development and Professional SkillsSeeks and is open to feedback.Accountable for one's own actions.Complies with company policies and procedures.Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:Work is normally performed in a typical office work environmentNo or very little physical effort required.Minimal production area exposure.Travel Requirements: No travel requiredThe pay range for this role is:29 - 32 USD per hour (Summerset - Whitewater)
