We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. Learn more about the Deployables Operating Unit: Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for creating and implementing deployable structures and mechanical mechanisms at the cutting edge of space technology. You will own your work from concept creation through design and analysis phases and may participate in manufacturing, testing, and system integration.Role and Responsibilities Create, prototype, design, and analyze structures and mechanisms for moving mechanical assemblies such as solar arrays, booms, and other support structures for satellite subsystems.Develop and refine components and subsystems using design skills, hand calculations, and finite element analysis or other modeling tools.Generate detailed 3D CAD designs, drawings, and documentation; support manufacturing and assembly.Document test plans and procedures.Participate in design reviews with internal teams and external customers.Optimize for high structural performance, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.Manage multiple priorities effectively, aligning with project goals and customer requirements.Report design status, progress, and issues regularly.Basic Qualifications Bachelor's in Mechanical, Astronautical, or Aerospace Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience, or Master's with no experience.Experience with PTC Creo Parametric.Understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).Knowledge of materials used in spacecraft/aerospace design.Familiarity with manufacturing processes like machining and rapid prototyping.Knowledge of deployable mechanisms for space applications.Understanding of vibration and thermal environmental factors affecting space mechanisms.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Ability to work independently and in teams.Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a relevant field.Detailed knowledge of structures, mechanisms, actuators, and materials.Hands-on experience prototyping space hardware.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Self-motivated with good organizational skills.Ability to adapt to changing requirements.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.Salary Range: $81,300 - $121,900.
