Mechanical Design Engineer – Remote (Columbus, OH Area)

Location: Columbus, OH area (Remote position – occasional site visits may be required)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong technical expertise and design experience to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a remote position, but candidates should be based in or around the Columbus area to accommodate occasional site visits or client meetings.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating and refining detailed mechanical designs for HVAC and related building systems. You will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to develop innovative solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for a variety of building types.
• Produce and modify Revit models and SolidWorks drawings for detailed design work.
• Work collaboratively with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of systems.
• Prepare design documentation, calculations, and specifications in compliance with project requirements and codes.
• Support project lifecycle from concept design through construction documents and into construction administration.
• Participate in coordination meetings and provide technical expertise during design reviews.
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in HVAC/mechanical design in an engineering or architectural firm.
• Proficiency in Revit and SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Preferred (Bonus):

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• Experience in sustainable design practices and energy modeling.
• Familiarity with additional design tools or BIM workflows.
