To coordinate with administration and other program specialist to facilitate the programs of special needs students at McCarthy Teszler School. REPORTS TO: Principal of McCarthy Teszler QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current South Carolina Teaching Certification.
- Master's degree in administration or curriculum and instruction preferred.
- Successful experience teaching students with a variety of exceptional needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and district staff.
- Ability to conduct effective staff development sessions and to model and coach staff regarding effective instruction and behavior strategies.
- Knowledge of IDEA and experience writing IEP's, developing FIBA's and BIP's, and implementing effective programs for exceptional students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with school-wide planning.
- Programming for self-contained classrooms designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities and significant behavior concerns.
- Supporting instruction.
- Conducting and providing support in professional development.
- Acting as a liaison between county schools, families, and classrooms.
- Coordinating various testing programs with county schools.
- Helping classrooms develop functional behavioral assessments and behavioral intervention plans.
- The provision of instructional assistance to teachers and other school personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Works well others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
