About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production/Material Planner to join our Interiors division in Bohemia, NY. Reporting to the Senior Materials Planning SIOP Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the supply and demand planning process, improving planning systems, and ensuring predictable business performance. The ideal candidate will apply strong analytical skills, forecasting experience, and production planning knowledge to drive efficiency and deliver exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage scheduling processes, including qualitative and quantitative monitoring of production dates.
- Plan, schedule, and maintain sales plans while supporting production orders.
- Create and maintain valid work orders, due dates, and closure timelines.
- Conduct Can-Build build analysis to ensure production readiness.
- Analyze pre-order requests for material and labor availability to support customer requirements.
- Monitor customer requirements and develop a level-loaded Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Maintain short- and long-term SIOP capacity profiles using standard tools.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance customer service and inventory turns.
- Lead cross-functional production meetings and communicate across all organizational levels.
- Develop weekly and monthly sales estimates for assigned product lines.
- Manage Item Master (IM) Planning Parameters to support replenishment strategies.
- Proactively identify, prioritize, and track shortages.
- Collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams, supporting planning bills of materials, prototype builds, and production readiness activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR
- Advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience, OR
- In lieu of a degree, 9 years of directly relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace industry or manufacturing environment experience.
- Prior experience in production/material planning and forecasting operations.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) as well as MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with bills of materials and engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies (certification not required).
