Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Materials Manager role in Firebaugh. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage non-finished goods inventory operations, including Ingredients, Packaging, Dunnage, Chemicals, and Consumables.

  • Maintain lot traceability and chain of custody for all Ingredients.

  • Manage non-conforming base material and base material selection for Reman production.

  • Develop and maintain inventory control processes to minimize obsolete materials and on-hand inventory levels.

  • Incorporate FIFO methodology across all ingredients and packaging to ensure high-quality finished products, meeting budgetary and contractual agreements.

  • Manage timely receipt of ingredients, packaging, supplies, and raw materials, ensuring accuracy of receipts and proper storage.

  • Ensure proper documentation for all incoming deliveries, ensuring they are accounted for and recorded.

  • Maintain accurate inventories and perform frequent audits to confirm PeopleSoft (ERP) quantities match physical inventory.

  • Audit and balance non-finished goods inventory transactions to complete production.

  • Monitor inventory adjustments and cycle counts, maintaining metrics to track inventory performance and meet KPIs.

  • Provide training and guidance to staff using various methods, tools, equipment, and technology to ensure accuracy in inventory control processes.

  • Implement and manage MRP/Replenishment Program.

  • Maintain orderly operations, systems, and processes within the Materials Department.

  • Investigate significant variances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, quality assurance, accounting, warehouse, and supply chain teams to develop continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Develop staff, establish training programs, and set KPIs to measure performance.

  • Develop and manage continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve product quality.

  • Create ROI and cost-benefit analyses for initiatives and expenditures to improve processes.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams for problem-solving and continuous improvement.

  • Perform duties in accordance with human resources, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Promote and drive a safe work environment.

  • Support compliance with all programs, policies, and procedures in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or Materials Management; Bachelor's degree .

  • 3 years' experience in manufacturing, including 2 years in food processing manufacturing, inventory management, and MRP Systems or replenishment experience.

  • 2 years' supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of warehousing, inventory (FIFO), and ingredients management.

  • Working knowledge of inventory control and management strategies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective administrative procedures.

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.

  • Proficient in inventory unit of measure conversions and mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals).

  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English; bilingual English/Spanish .

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with peers to achieve results.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

  • Ability to learn and operate inventory, materials, and operational software, including technical equipment.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to process large datasets and solve complex problems.

  • Ability to prioritize, make decisions under pressure, and follow established policies and procedures.

  • Experience in SAP, ISO900X, Six Sigma, QOS, QS9000, or other Quality Systems is desirable but not required.

  • Or, any combination of training, experience, and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities.

Work Environment:

  • Plant manufacturing and office environment with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, water, noise, and chemicals.

  • Extended work schedule seasonally, generally July through early October.

  • Seasonal hot weather and associated humidity.

  • Exposure to chlorine odors from regular cleanup.

  • Fumes from shuttle trucks and constant diesel truck traffic.

  • Regular exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.

  • Frequent exposure to high places and airborne particles from sanitation materials.

  • Moderate noise level, requiring hearing protection.

  • Constant forklift, shuttle, and tomato truck traffic (Diesel Truck).
