We're seeking an experienced Materials Manager to lead and optimize our materials planning, production scheduling, purchasing, shipping, and inventory control operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our production processes meet customer demand while supporting operational efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead forecasting and production scheduling to ensure timely manufacturing and delivery of products.
- Oversee the Production Scheduler and Buyer/Store Supervisor to align core room and molding schedules with customer and plant needs.
- Manage procurement of all charge yard materials, especially scrap materials used in the Melt Department.
- Negotiate and maintain long-term vendor contracts (e.g., for oxygen, coke, outside processors).
- Collaborate with teams to ensure production goals are met using the Order Board.
- Monitor core production and outside purchases to avoid delays and past due orders.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, and support SOX, ISO, and QS compliance.
- Track and report material costs, updating weighted buy reports in alignment with sales and material surcharges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in materials management, purchasing, or production planning (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
- Strong knowledge of inventory systems, forecasting, and scheduling tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data-driven reporting.
- Experience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
- Solid understanding of SOX, ISO, and QS standards is a plus.
