Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties:
  • Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of programs, meet with supervisors and managers to resolve problems and perform unannounced inspection of operations.
  • Prepares and maintains inspection and test reports and issues material reports.
  • Performs tests and inspection duties.
  • Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.
  • Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement.
  • Secures, logs in and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing.
  • Observes tests and inspections and reviews reports from other inspectors; performs quality assurance for tests and inspections.
  • Plans, coordinates, assigns, monitors and reviews the work of technical employees.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: No experience required (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions; no effective weather protection
  • Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour

  • Subject to vibration
  • Required to wear protective gear-respirator, hard hat, or other device
  • Medium work: Lift up to 50 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs
  • Fingering-picking, pinching, typing; working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand

  • This job has been identified as physically demanding and will require a pre-employment physical.
