The MP&L Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations in an automotive manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and movement of materials and finished goods. This role also supports broader Materials, Planning, and Logistics (MP&L) functions including shipping, inventory control, and service parts logistics. The ideal candidate will lead a team focused on safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement in warehouse and logistics operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervising Warehouse Operations: Oversees daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping of materials and finished goods. Ensures accuracy, efficiency, and safety in all warehouse processes.
- Shipping and Logistics: Coordinates outbound shipments to customers and service centers, ensuring on-time delivery and proper documentation. Manages relationships with freight carriers and third-party logistics providers. Ensures compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Inventory Management: Monitors inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. Supports cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation processes. Works with procurement and logistics teams to maintain optimal stock levels and timely material flow.
- Service Parts Support: Oversees storage and distribution of service parts to support aftermarket and warranty operations. Coordinates with service teams to ensure timely availability of critical components and reduce obsolescence.
- Documentation & Audits: Ensures all warehouse documentation is accurate and up to date. Conducts regular audits to verify compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Training and Development:Trains and develops warehouse staff, including forklift operators and material handlers. Ensures team members have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
- Process Improvement:Identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives to streamline warehouse operations, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Develops standardized work procedures and optimizes warehouse layout and material flow.
- Communication: Coordinates with other departments such as production, maintenance, and logistics to ensure smooth operations. Communicates effectively across all shifts to ensure continuity and alignment of warehouse activities.
- Safety Compliance:Promotes a culture of safety and ensures compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Implements measures to prevent accidents and injuries in the warehouse.
- Leadership and Management:Provides strong leadership to the warehouse team. Sets individual objectives, monitors performance, and fosters a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership and Development:Recruits, develops, and mentors a high-performing warehouse team. Provides guidance on best practices and supports professional development.
- Talent Development: Develops talent through structured training programs, coaching, and succession planning to build a resilient and capable warehouse organization.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Skills & Experience
- Prior experience in a production or supervisory role is often required. This could include roles such as production supervisor, team leader, or shift manager.
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing injection molding processes is highly valued.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate production teams, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions clearly, liaise with other departments, and resolve conflicts.
- Problem-solving: Aptitude for identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
