Material Handler - Monroe, GA

Major Responsibilities:

  • Promotes safety and working safely throughout the facility to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
  • Inspects work area daily.
  • Adhering to all safety policies.
  • Wearing all personal protective equipment (PPE). GMP required gear.
  • Being aware of all emergency exits and knowing procedures for emergency evacuation.
  • Knowing not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training.
  • Being cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment.
  • Reporting all injuries or incidents to your supervisor immediately.
  • Fully understanding and supportive of the Safety START card program.
  • Understanding the good housekeeping guidelines.
  • Attend daily production meetings.
  • Reading and understanding specific information pertaining to your job duties and classification.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Housekeeping:

  • Dust mop blender area.
  • Keep work areas clean and safe.
  • Vacuum material off machines and after purge.
  • Clean oil pans.
  • Clean filters and magnets on blending system and dryers.
  • Clean assigned lines for weekly housekeeping inspection sheet.

Materials Management:

  • Review schedule for daily activities on your shift.
  • Verify material being used versus BOM specs for colors, resin, additives and percent of additives.
  • Record and sign on activity log report the materials being used.
  • Monitor blending system ensuing regrind and color is being used consistently.
  • Check hopper windows, ensuring material does not run out.
  • Communicate with warehouse to get materials needed on production schedule.
  • Must know how to set blending system for color, regrind, and resin, and must have materials at line for startups.
  • Understand LR systems and follow systems manual when operating or troubleshooting the system.
  • Verify each Gaylord or barrel of color or regrind is covered and properly tagged.
  • Weigh all End of Run materials and tag, also place in End of Run staging area.
  • Notify Supervisor if contamination is found.
  • Weigh and tag all full Gaylords of regrind and chunks and place in staging area.
  • Clean and purge any changeovers using line clearance procedure, labeling all barrels with proper information, cleaning and vacuuming hoppers, barrels, etc.
  • Keep emptied Gaylords broken down and stacked and place any other cardboard in compacter.
  • If equipment is in need of repair, fill out a maintenance work order request.

Minimum Education Required: High School/GED

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  • Education: Required: Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Preferred: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Required: Good communication and motivation skill. Good personal safety, attendance, and job performance record. Both high amounts of quality and quantity of work. Knowledge of plant procedures and equipment use. Extent, to which team member identifies and corrects errors, initiates work activities, assumes responsibility, completes work assignments, meets schedules follows established policies/procedures and anticipates needs. Builds trust by respecting the ideas and contributions of everyone.
  • Skills: Required: Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence team members to work safely. Demonstrated willingness to work well with others within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate and train effectively. Ability to assess job tasks, and prioritize those tasks when conditions change. Forklift certification. Be mechanically inclined to use ordinary tools (wrenches, socket wrenches, Allen wrenches. Ability to read and fully understand BOM. Preferred: Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions. Able to read fractions on a ruler.
  • Special Requirements: Must be dependable. Must have good attendance record. Ability to pass written requirements in numeric, visual, verbal comp, space visualization, and work orientation. Ability to work or stand for a 12-hour shift. Must be willing to work overtime when needed. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Work involves continuous bending, reaching, twisting, standing and walking. Must be able to move up to 2000lbs with floor jack. Climb up and down ladders. General math skills. In my absence others in my job class will cover my responsibilities.
