Material Handler - Aerotek : Job Details

As a material handler, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate measurement and movement of materials for cutting and shipment. The role requires precision and teamwork to handle materials using various equipment, ensuring that they meet client specifications.

Responsibilities include:

• Read and use a tape measure to measure metal and materials accurately.
• Receive orders from leads and supervisors to fulfill customer requests.
• Move materials to CNC operators for cutting according to client needs.
• Operate an overhead crane to load materials onto flatbed trucks for shipment.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team, often involving heavy lifting.
• Be flexible and adaptable to work in different areas as needed.
• Lift materials weighing 45-50 pounds frequently.
• Conduct quality checks on finished products.

Essential skills include:

• Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure.
• Experience in material handling and overhead crane operation.
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

• Experience in a warehouse, production, construction, or steel environment is a plus.
• Familiarity with rigging, unloading, warehouse inventory, order picking, packaging, and sheet metal handling.
• Previous experience with FL and crane operation is advantageous.

Work environment:

This position is based in a steel warehouse that may be non-climate controlled and physically demanding. You will work across different shifts: 1st shift (5:30 AM - 1:30 PM Monday - Friday), 2nd shift (1:30 PM 9:30 PM Monday Friday), or 3rd shift (9:30 PM 5:30 AM Sunday Thursday).

Job type & location:

This is a contract to hire position based out of Nashville, Tennessee.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
