We're more than a distributor-we're a trusted partner built on strong relationships, operational know-how, and a relentless focus on customer success.Role OverviewThe Material Handler is responsible for assisting the fabrication group in receiving, documenting, loading/unloading all material delivered to warehouse.Responsibilities Load/Unload all materials delivered to/leaving shop via LTL trucks and trailers.Tag all pallets, crates and completed products with job numbers.Lift and move large steel sheets and products with care not to damage the material while following shop floor order instructions regarding all processes.Organize and stage parts for various machines in the Fab department.Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, or other handling equipment to move material to and from different locations.Frequently getting on and off the forklift to count or stack parts.Maintain a clean area inside and outside the shop/yard.Manage the flow of material from preparation to shipment.Prepares material to be shipped.Inventory materials, and supply workers with materials as needed.Executes movement of material from receiving to the yard in an efficient, effective and safe manner.Performs the supplying of materials to fabrication and stages material for assembly.Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety proceduresDetect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors/maintenance department.Effectively communicates with co-workers and internal customers.Display attributes of a team player and positive role model.Complies with OSHA safety and regulations.Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education GED - High School Diploma. Role requires 1+ years of experience working for a fab shop or equivalent material handler position. Previous forklift truck/trailer experience, required. Experience/exposure operating a crane desired.Ability to read tape measure up to 1/32 , and ability to interpret dial caliper measurements and hand tools as needed.Good math skills are required.Must have good communication skills, including the ability to read and write effectively.Read and identify fitting, pipe sizes.Read and identify heat number for shop drawings.The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance.The ability to stand throughout the day, and climb on/off equipment, and lift materials in excess of 50 pounds regularly.The ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug test.
