Job Overview: A material handler is an individual responsible for the efficient and organized movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. Their primary role involves loading and unloading shipments, sorting, and organizing inventory, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Material handlers use various equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely and quickly. They play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, fulfilling orders, and supporting the overall logistics and supply chain operations of a business. Key Responsibilities:
  • Pick, pack, and prepare products and materials for shipment according to shipping orders
  • Ensure accurate labeling, packaging, and documentation for outgoing shipments
  • Load and unload trucks, and safely transport materials within the warehouse using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment
  • Inspect materials and products for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to supervisors
  • Pick up and deliver raw materials, work in process inventory, and packaging supplies, as needed, to and from the production and shipping areas
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Successfully complete forklift certification program
  • Have effective communication skills: fluent English reading, writing, speaking
  • Have experience working in shipping/receiving/warehouse
  • Ensure FIFO is followed for all transactions
