Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Master Picture Framer with museum-level expertise to join our team. This individual will be responsible for designing and executing archival, conservation-grade framing solutions that complement and protect artworks of exceptional value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom frames using chop and join techniques
  • Choose the correct archival materials for the desired presentation (UV-filtering glazing, acid-free mats, museum board, etc.)
  • Experience creating hand-painted french mats and silk mats
  • Handle artworks with utmost care, including rare and fragile pieces
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workshop environment
  • Stay current with conservation framing practices, materials, techniques, and technology

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional framing experience, with at least 2 years at a museum, conservation studio, or high-end gallery
  • Demonstrated expertise in archival and conservation framing practices
  • Strong knowledge of art handling, preservation materials, and fine craftsmanship
  • Exceptional attention to detail and design sensibility
  • Ability to solve complex problems to meet the client's expectations
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of frame styles and historical presentation methods
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems
